Pittsburgh Plays is an event that offers music lovers of all kinds the chance to experience the talents of local artists through the coveted music of legendary performers who have influenced generations.
The first installment in this tribute series celebrated the life and music of the late Tom Petty. Upon learning of his passing, Josh Bakaitus and Cory Muro talked of their regret for missing what would be the last opportunity to witness Tom Petty perform songs they have loved for so long. The idea for a tribute show was born, and then reborn to become the remarkable display of the immense landscape of talented artists that call Pittsburgh home.
The extraordinary musicians of Pittsburgh Plays Petty embraced the challenge of learning beloved songs in new collaborations, and put on a show that bathed everyone in nostalgia.
The response from both the performers and the fans was so overwhelming that Pittsburgh Plays produced the second installment to celebrate the vast spectrum of the music of Sir Paul McCartney on December 28 & 29, 2018 at Mr. Small’s Theatre, with a reunion concert scheduled for June 14, 2019 at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille.
